Compression testing is a mechanical procedure for determining how a test sample will react to a force being applied across one side of the test sample.
A box compression testing machine applies the compressive force to the container, while holding the container between two plates that distribute the load. Typically, one of the two plates is fixed, while the other is movable. As the dynamic force is applied to one side of the test container, the test system monitors and reports both the force and deflection throughout the duration test.
Packaging Engineers use compressing test equipment to design protective packaging systems that can withstand the compressive forces that packaged products will experience when traveling through the supply chain.
